Fawad Chaudhry's statement on Pulwama in the National Assembly: The commotion on social media in India and Fawad Chaudhry's explanation

The uproar in India and Pakistan over PML-N MPA and former speaker Ayaz Sadiq's statement in the National Assembly on the release of Indian pilot Abhinandan was not over. A statement is now being aired repeatedly in the Indian media.

In this clip circulating on Indian media and social media, Fawad Chaudhry can be heard addressing the National Assembly saying, 'We have infiltrated India, our success in Pulwama is due to Imran Khan. This nation is successful in leadership, you are all part of it, we are all part of it.

He added: "The way we have infiltrated and killed India after the Pulwama incident, the way the Shaheens of Pakistan, the Sipah of Pakistan, these great sons of Pakistan, the way they invaded India, they beat it. India's own media is ashamed of it. India's political leadership is ashamed of it.

It may be recalled that on February 14, 2019, 40 soldiers were killed in an attack on a convoy of Indian security forces in Pulwama district of Indian-administered Kashmir. Relations between the two countries soured after the attack. India has accused Pakistan of involvement in the attack, which Pakistan vehemently denies.

Fawad Chaudhry's statement is being well shared on Indian social media and many users have appealed to the United Nations to take notice.

Major Guru Arya wrote: 'Imagine ... An elected representative of the Pakistani people is calling a suicide bombing that killed 40 innocent people a victory for the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Take note of the FATF and the United Nations. "

A user named Vikram Chandawat wrote: “After this confirmation of Pakistan, I would now like to draw the attention of the United Nations to this. What more evidence is needed to declare it a terrorist country?

Indian journalist Samita Prakash wrote: "Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister of Pakistan, is proud to say in the National Assembly that Pulwama was a great achievement of the Imran Khan government."

The Times of India wrote on Twitter: "Pakistani minister acknowledges Imran government's role in Pulwama attack."

Another user wrote: "Let's finally expose themselves to the world."

However, Pakistani analysts say that the Indian media is misinterpreting the statement of the Federal Minister and Fawad Chaudhry was meant to give a full response to the Indian Air Force attack in Balakot after the Pulwama attack.

Senior journalist Naseem Zahra told the BBC that Fawad Chaudhry had said so by mistake but India would definitely use it.

Fawad Chaudhry can't say that, he will mean after Pulwama, how can he say that. If this is not true then how can Fawad Chaudhry say that.

Naseem Zahra added: "Fawad Chaudhry has said this with 100% error and infiltration means that when India attacked, the Pakistan Air Force responded."

Defense analyst Brigadier (retd) Farooq Hameed expressed similar views. "This is a misinterpretation by the media and Fawad Chaudhry's statement is being distorted and misinterpreted," he said.

He said, "Pulwama means that the operation that took place after Pulwama, the downing of Indian aircraft by the Pakistan Air Force is a great achievement of Pakistan and the Indians have not been able to come out of this defeat till date."

As Fawad Chaudhry said, this does not mean that we went and attacked Pulwama. Fawad Chaudhry only referred to this incident.

Meanwhile, Fawad Chaudhry also spoke to Indian TV channel NDTV and explained that his statement was being misrepresented out of context.

According to the NDTV website, Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan does not support terrorism at all.

According to NDTV, he said that the term 'Pulwama' is now commonly used for the whole incident and he also mentioned it in the same context.

He clarified that he was referring to Pakistan's 'Operation Soft Resort' in response to India's operation in Balakot after the Pulwama incident.
